A mission that shapes our approach

Beetroot Academy started in 2014, in response to the consequences of war, using tech education as a tool for support and recovery.

We've worked with veterans and their families since 2015, and in 2025, defence and dual-use technology training became a direct extension of that mission: a practical answer to what Ukraine needs right now.

Andreas founded Beetroot in 2012 around one idea: technology should serve the public good. Today he leads Beetroot Academy and, through Varangians — the first Swedish investment firm focused on Ukrainian defence tech — helps build Europe's defence tech ecosystem alongside it.

How We Teach

Our programs combine practical experience, systems thinking, and real-world application scenarios in defense and dual-use fields.

Online courses focused on practical application

Our programs are conducted online, allowing engineers from various cities and contexts to participate. The format is built around practice, applied scenarios, and the logic of real projects.

Engineers with experience are learning

Most of our students are developers from IT, engineers, energy specialists, miltech, and manufacturing. About 60% transition from software to hardware or want to program 'hardware.'

Current curriculum

Our programs are designed based on feedback from over 70 defense sector companies. Therefore, the training focuses on practical skills that help specialists quickly find their place in the industry.

Learning with motivation and direction

Some join with a clear defense motivation, while others seek professional upskilling and entry into a new niche. This creates a mature environment where responsibility, focus, and results are key.
